The rumors are flying all over the place about what Apple might have up its sleeve for the next iPad. We keep hearing rumors that there will be a smaller screen iPad called the iPad mini surface. We have also heard the rumor that the iPad mini will be cheaper, but not smaller. The latest rumor comes from the supply chain and claims that LG display and AU Optronics have both sent samples of screens to Apple according to the rumors. iPad mini display panel size is 7.85” and it has the same resolution as the iPad 2.
What is remarkable, how Steve Jobs had once called 7” screen tablets dead on arrival. “Commenting on avalanche of tablets heading to market. Just a handful of credible entrants. Almost all use 7? screen, compared to iPad at nearly 10? screen. 7? screen is only 45% as large as iPad’s screen. Hold an iPad in portrait view and draw a horizontal line halfway down. What’s left is a 7? screen…too small. There are clear limits to how close elements can be on the screen before users can’t touch accurately. We believe 10-inch screen is minimum necessary.”
And now that Apple is planning to create a mini tablet nearly 7.85” it is the topic of debate. How did they finally decide upon a small screen tablet? How will they manage to impart same resolution as that of a 10” screen to the 7” screen? Since, reduced screen size would mean native display of iPad apps on iPad Mini. People are saying Apple is trying to fend Amazon’s Kindle Fire by releasing an iPad Mini. Kindle Fire costs just $199.
