Jose Mourinho’s side Real Madrid last night lost to Bayern Munich in a dramatic penalty shoot out. After losing the match Jose Mourinho said that he was the Blues to win the final of Champions League against Bayern Munich. He further added that “I obviously want Chelsea to win. They were heroes to beat Barcelona with 10 men, I’m proud of my players and we have to be strong but we were lacking freshness in an enormous game”. Mourinho’s side looked exhausted during the second half of extra time, and Cristiano Ronaldo who scored two goals in the match was the most exhausted player on the pitch. Madrid played Barcelona on Saturday before this clash so, they didn’t have a chance to rest their top players. While on other hand Bayern rested their all top players because they already lost Bundesliga title.
Bayern Coach Jupp Heynckes said after the victory that “We’ve achieved our main objective of the season, it was almost an obsession for us to play the final in our stadium.We played a great game against an extraordinary opponent who went 2-0 ahead tonight but we have managed to get a goal back, our goalkeeper has been great at the end and we’ve had a bit of luck.I told them before we may have to play for 120 minutes but I did not expect the penalties.”
Only two teams has played in the champions league final at their home ground previously those are Roma and Real Madrid. Roma lost to Liverpool on penalties while Real Madrid beat Fiorentina 2-0 at the Bernabeu in 1957 .
