Toure celebrates after scoring the goal
Manchester City beat Newcastle United by 2-0 at their home ground and are now just a victory away from winning the Premier League title from under the noses of their rivals United.
This match was considered as the biggest hurdle in City;s title charge after they beat United at home. But Yaya Toure’s two goals in the last 20 minutes ensure that City will go into the final match of the season leading United on goal differences and can clinch the title if they beat QPR at home. Interesting fact is this that City has not lost a single game at home this season, just drawn one against Sunderland.
During the match Newcastle gave City a hard time and and Toon proved to be a tough nut to crack for Roberto Mancini men but City’s Yaya Toure who City fans call Black Zidane scored the opener for City just 20 minutes from the time, it was a fabulous strike. After that Newcastle who are fighting for a Champions league place tried hard to equalize but failed to do so. And in the last minute of the game Yaya Toure scored the second for for City and doubled his tally for the night, gave City a real chance of winning their first league title in 44 years.
This loss will be a big blow for Newcastle, now they are one point behind Tottehnam now they need to beat Everton in the last game of the season and wish that Tottehnam will lose points.

City manager Roberto Mancini who in last few weeks said City are not favorites to win the BPL title said after the match that ”Maybe, maybe yes because it depends on us.If we beat QPR, we will be the champions. But at this moment, we can’t think about this. We need to prepare very well for the next game, only this.I am excited because we are on the top, but it’s not enough. One week more and if we play like we did today [Sunday], we have a lot of chance to win.”
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said after the match that “City are the best team they faced this season in the Premier League. Better then United,Chelsea,Spurs and Arsenal. He added of they clinch the Premier League title then they are deserving winners because their performance this season was more than impressive and they played the best football this season in the League. ”
